THE SUN DOWN TO THE EARTH The Genesis story… NASA's $260m Genesis Mission is the first attempt to collect samples of the solar wind and return them to Earth. The spacecraft was launched successfully on August 8th 2001 and was placed 1.5 million km from the Earth, where it collected samples for over two years, bringing them back in 2004.
