China

The Chinese civilization came into existence some 7000 years ago alongside the Huang Ho river (known as the 'Sorrow of China'). The main occupation of these people was farming and hunting. By 2500 BC, they started living in villages that gradually became towns and cities.

As cities grew, dynasties came to rule China. The Xia dynasty was the first to establish itself. Then, around 2200 BC, came the Shang dynasty. Their capitals at Cheng-chou and An-yang were well developed with wide streets and exotic buildings.
