| Getting
bubble gum on your clothes, shoes or hair can leave you in a
rather sticky situation. Here's Babol's guide to taking gum
out of unwanted places. |
 |
Hair:
Having gum stuck in your hair can make you feel like pulling
the roots out! But there's an easy way of getting the
chewy remains out of your hair. Rub in butter, preferably
the peanut kind. The oils in peanut butter soften the
gum so that you can loosen the gum and pull it out with
your fingers or comb. |
|
Clothing:
Don't turn your clothes to tatters trying to get the gum
off! Try Fundu's trick: For washable clothing, scrape
off any excess gum. Then rub the area with ice until the
remaining gum rolls off into a ball. Another method is
to seal the dry garment in a plastic bag and place it
in the freezer. After the garment is frozen, remove it
from the freezer and gently scrape the gum off. |

Shoes,
furniture, small items:
We wish gum in your shoes could turn you into Spiderman,
but you'd need to be living in a comic world for that
to happen. Till that day comes, use this cool trick to
get rid of the sticky stuff: Rub an ice cube over the
gum. This hardens the gum enough so that you can pull
it off! If gum gets stuck on a small showpiece, you can
put it in the freezer for 15 minutes (check with your
parents if they're OK with you doing this, it might damage
the piece!) and then chip away. |
